We are 7 weeks pregnant...

Baby Stevens is now about half an inch / 1.25 centimetres long, apparently the size of a grape (although our little ticker thing on the left hand side says it's the size of rice and an alternative source says a blueberry!?)
Our little embryo really seems to be growing in leaps and bounds this week/next week. It has distinct, slightly webbed fingers and toes. It's even started moving, in fits and starts! The liver is churning out large amounts of red blood cells until the bone marrow forms and takes over this role. The eighth week marks the beginning of a very busy developmental stage. Between now and 20 weeks, our baby will be growing rapidly, and body parts that formed in the first few weeks of life (such as the heart and brain) will become more complicated. The teeth and palate are forming, while the ears continue to develop. Its skin is paper thin, and veins are clearly visible.

It was suggested to us that we read the verse from Jeremiah 1:5 over our baby and it's growth: 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart...'...

and this one from Psalm 139:13-14...

"For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well
...

When it comes down to it, evolution just doesn't really cover or explain the intricacies or the miracle of birth and we really praise God for that.

OMG! That is just so amazing! It's no longer just a little blob in your belly, it's really starting to look like a baby. I am so happy for you. Keep up the great work on making that beautiful miracle.
